Website Strategy

Decide what your website needs to do before anyone starts designing it

Most website projects start with design and end in disappointment. The site looks better, but the phone does not ring more, because nobody decided what the site was supposed to accomplish before picking colors. Rebuilding it again a year later costs twice what the thinking would have.

Website Strategy is that thinking, done as its own engagement before design starts. We work out your positioning, the information architecture, which pages deserve priority, what content each page needs, the paths that turn a visitor into an inquiry, and how success will be measured once the site is live.

Whoever builds the site, us or anyone else, starts with a real brief instead of a mood board. Pages exist for a reason, content answers the questions customers actually have, and you can tell within months whether the investment is working instead of arguing about opinions.

This is the right fix if

  • You are about to invest in a new site or redesign and want the thinking done before the spending
  • Your last website project produced something attractive that did not change your inquiry volume
  • You and your designer keep debating opinions because nobody defined what the site is for
  • You are not sure which services to feature, what pages you need, or what each one should say
  • You want to hire any capable builder and hand them a brief that protects the investment

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Discovery and review

We dig into your business, your customers, your current site's performance, and how people in your market actually choose a provider.

  2. 02

    Strategy development

We draft the positioning, architecture, content plan, and conversion paths, and refine them with you until the plan reflects your business.

  3. 03

    Brief and handoff

You receive a complete strategy brief any builder can execute, with the measurement plan that will judge the result.

What’s Included

Positioning and messaging foundation

A clear statement of who the site serves, why customers should choose you, and the language that carries that argument on every page.

Information architecture and page priorities

The full page map, what exists, what does not, and which pages carry the most weight for inquiries and search.

Content and conversion plan

What each page must say and prove, and the specific paths that move a visitor from reading to calling, booking, or filling out a form.

Measurement plan

The handful of numbers that will tell you whether the site is working after launch, and how they will be tracked.

Common Questions

Can we use this strategy with a different designer or developer?

Yes, and that is the point. The brief is written to be executed by any capable builder. If you ask us to build it, the same document guides our work, but hiring us is never part of the deal.

Why not just start designing and figure this out along the way?

Because mid-project is the most expensive place to make strategy decisions. Choices about pages, content, and conversion paths get made under deadline pressure by whoever is loudest. Settling them first makes the build faster and the arguments shorter.

Does this include the design or the copywriting itself?

No. This engagement produces the plan: positioning, architecture, page priorities, content requirements, conversion paths, and measurement. Design and copy execution are separate work, scoped from this brief.

We already have a website. Is this still relevant?

Often more so. If your current site underperforms, strategy work identifies whether the problem is structural or cosmetic before you pay for a redesign, which sometimes shrinks the project considerably.
